Mosque Open Day – Madina Masjid Opens Doors To All Levenshulme Residents

When Is The Open Day?

On Sunday the 5th of February at 12pm – 3pm there is an opportunity to visit our local mosque.

Madina Masjid on Barlow Road is soon to be transformed into a modern, state of the art community centre and cafe along with place of prayer. The improvements, once complete will create a building in which future for worshippers of Islam and the wider community in Levenshulme can both enjoy. It will also add to the improvement of the visuals in and around the district centre along with the new Arcadia Sports Centre and Library on that stretch.

What’s In Store At The Open Day?

It’s a great opportunity to go if you’ve never been before. You will meet with some of the young people who run youth activities there and the Pakistani women’s group that took part in the Levenshulme Global Picnic run by Levenshulme Market and The Levenshulme Food Festival at Cringle Park in 2015.

You can also take the time to enjoy some nibbles and refreshments and get an insight into what the future holds for this cultural centre and the good work they already do in the area and have a tour of the existing building. If you arrive at 12pm, you can observe prayer time as well.

Who’s Organising the Event?

The event is organised by the events team based within the mosque and is part of a UK wide scheme called #visitmymosque  lead by The Muslim Council of Britain.

Shujaat Hussain, president of the mosque and community centre says;

Madina Masjid is taking part in the national #VisitMyMosque initiative and in the spirit of friendship and goodwill we hope to give members of the local community an engaging insight into the life of the mosque and to promote a greater understanding of Islam.

The open attitude of the mosque and its people make a major contribution in fostering interfaith and intercultural understanding in the local community.
We would be honoured to have your presence on the day between 12:00pm and 3:00pm.

In particular, if you are able to arrive by 12:00pm my colleagues at the mosque will begin proceedings with a meet & greet after which you will have the opportunity to observe a congregational prayer, followed by refreshments and a tour of the building.
